CWW - Week 12 - Day 7 - Humility

Devotions, Humility
Today’s Devotion Spoken…

Humility

Scripture:

2Corinthians 12:9: “And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Day seven of our devotionals for this week is a powerful way to finish.

Grace is the gift that comes when we surrender to Gods’ perfect will for our lives.

To fess up and own our shortcomings helps us to heal and restore our character in ways we hitherto thought impossible. By becoming humble in surrender, the Remedy, [see Dr Timothy Jennings books] Jesus Christ can be fully and generously applied to bring us to eternal life.

It is in our surrender that we are shown that, as God has forgiven us, we are to humbly and without expectation or exception, forgive others.

When we do this we share the gift freely given us by the sacrifice at the Cross and avail for ourselves so much.

I often for-warn people at CWW by reflecting on the hymn Amazing Grace.

“Amazing grace, how sweet the sound; that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found. Was blind but now I see.” When challenged about my qualifications in writing these devotionals I clearly state the only one that matters and holds water. Once I was blind and now I see. After all is this not the reason that you are reading this? It’s not because I have degrees in theology, only that I am a sinner saved by Grace through my faith in Christ and Christ alone.

When I watched the effects of forgiveness and grace on the man who sexually abused my wife Michelle, [see fireside chat with Michelle in week eleven] it truly left an indelible mark on my character and I have chosen this as my remedy ever since.

You see my friends, this is what is so amazing about grace.

It sets us all free, those who know they are sinners and those who don’t if they repent.

I once forgave a former family friend who almost sent me bankrupt because she stopped paying rent on my house for eighteen months. My rage at her consumed me until I realised I needed to let it go.

At a wedding years later she was there. She saw me and tried to avoid me. Eventually I found my way to the seat next to her. She was embarrassed to the point of tears. As she trembled I put my arm around her and told her I had forgiven her. She cried on my shoulder and I could see a cloud being lifted off her. She was free and so was I.

When we can’t surrender and forgive ourselves and others, we remain locked in a prison that we ourselves have built.

Grace is the reward for humility and surrender to God.

Are you ready for some amazing grace?

Listen carefully. Can you hear it? That’s Forgiveness calling out your name.

Such is the love of God.

Questions.

  1. Are you ready for a little grace in your troubled life?
  2. Are you now ready to do what it takes to get it?
  3. Are you now empowered to surrender all your hurts, hang-ups and habits to the Remedy, Jesus Christ?

Prayer.

Dear Lord, Papa God.

Please fill me with Your amazing grace Papa. Have mercy on my soul as I surrender to Your will for my life. Strengthen me and hold me close as I navigate this wonderful journey with you to everlasting life is my prayer in the precious name of Jesus. Amen
