The Armour Of God

Scripture:

Ephesians 6:10-12

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Devotional

Some weeks ago our topic was Fear. So what is fear and is it healthy.

It may not be a pleasant experience but it is a necessary one to aid in our daily survival. It points to situations that may be critical and require that certain choices be made. It is usually associated with a circumstance where the wrong choice will bring harm.

God gave us physical pain as a warning system to let us know that we are damaging our body. He gave us shame and guilt to warn us that we are damaging our souls and harming our character. Although we would love to live a life without pain, shame, guilt and fear, they are in fact very handy tools to take with us on the journey of life, the journey of character development.

Fear As A Means Of Control.

By now many of us are waking up to the reality that there are those who seek to control us. The principalities, powers and rulers of darkness mentioned in todays scripture. They create a fearful scenario that empowers your desire to be protected and then they tell you that they are your only chance for survival. If you do as they tell you then you will be safe.

So while shame, pain, guilt and fear have been installed in us by God as tools for navigation through life on earth, darker forces are using them as tools to achieve agendas of control and domination.

Fear when used as a weapon by the powers of evil can actually be described as False Evidence Appearing Real. Fearful scenarios are carefully enacted as a means to force compliance and control and as such, we can assume that the proposed remedies are not in our best interests.

Gods’ Protection.

The author and finisher of our destiny we now know is God. He designed us and the environment we function in and has all the bases of life covered if we seek our remedy through Him.

He has provided for us all, a suit of armour for our life long protection. A defence system that not only guards and protects us from the forces of darkness but carries us through the valley of the shadow of death.

Psalm 23:4 (KJV): “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

This week we will look at each of the six pieces of Gods’ Armour day by day so we know how to wear it.

I have been reflecting on the fear campaigns that assail us every day in the various forms of media we consume. Fear is the driving force behind campaigns being waged by those who seek to control us into a globalist agenda and by those who are dedicated to push back against it.

Many who strive to push back are employing narratives that strike terror into the hearts of the unwary, equally as controlling as those who originate these ludicrous plans for control. It has become a tug of war with the fanatics on both sides pulling hard on all those unfortunates caught in the middle. I love it when one side lets go of the rope and watch the other side fall flat on their backs.

I often find myself feeling like the rope in the tug of war don’t you?

I am tired of seeing fanatics feeding their zealous desires with the anxiety and depression of others. Are we all becoming fodder to the monster of False Evidence Appearing Real?

As we are drowning in a myriad of truths all being pushed by a different range of agendas, the truth itself becomes a casualty of the war we find ourselves in. I often quote Dr Timothy Jennings as he refers to remedies and solutions in practical faith terms. Tim explained in a speech about pandemic mismanagement he gave in the USA recently that we should look at methods as a way of determining motives. If we are being bullied, coerced or even bribed to accept something then we can almost certainly assume that this agenda is not in our best interest. We must explore methods that are clearly based on others centred love. Let the method show the motive and then decide for yourself what is truth.

Look at how many influencers on social media are pushing more and more outrageous theories that feed and accelerate the anxiety of others. Many are click baiting and mining for likes in order to further an agenda driven either by greed or a desire to be loved and accepted. We must examine the methods to understand the motives. The desire to be adored and accepted is often driven by inner feelings of failure and self loathing. We all have degrees of this but are we allowing it to control us to the detriment of others?

Faith In God Provides The Remedy.

I have stopped looking for other Gods to follow. Man is fallible; God is not. I have endeavoured to divert attention from myself to the source of my inspiration, Jesus Christ.

Groucho Marks once famously said that “he wouldn’t want to be a member of a club that would accept him as a member.” That must be true for all of us. None of us are worthy, but unconditional love and the power of the cross on which Christ paid the ultimate price for our membership in the halls of Heaven makes us so if we accept it and give all glory to God.

As we continue this journey we must cloth ourselves in His armour.

Questions

  1. Are you certain that everything you are afraid of is real?
  2. What fears are you holding onto that are destroying your serenity?
  3. Are you ready to sail into a safe harbour to ride out the storm?

Prayer.

Dear Lord, Papa God.

Thank you Lord for having all our contingency plans laid out on a simple road map. Thank you for showing us the traps and snares to avoid and thank you Papa for preparing our journey with the full and impregnable armour of God and the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ. May we give all credit to You through Him and may we become a beacon to the paths of those coming along behind us. Examine our hearts and motives and cleanse us from the garbage that pollutes our characters. For this is our prayer in your precious name. Amen.
