Week 4 - Day 4 - The Being Of God

Devotions, The Being Of God

Today’s Devotion Spoken…

Verse: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” – Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

Reflection:

I have realised just a smidgen of the power that is available to us if we just forget what others may think of us and just go with the Spirit. We hold ourselves back all the time because of peer pressure which is just another way of us all looking like turkeys when God wants us to be as eagles.

I have seen first hand the power that comes when I speak to please God and not men. The fear leaves me and I know that I am covered by His wings. That’s how the power of the Holy Spirit can assist us as we face down the darkness.

We will discuss fear in later chapters but this road we are on together will put fear where it belongs in the power that is coming.

Jesus promises his disciples, us, the power of the Holy Spirit to be living examples of his life, death, and resurrection. Reflect on a time when the Holy Spirit may have wanted to use you to support others on this journey. How is He supporting you right now?

Questions:

  1. How can the Holy Spirit empower you today to stand in a new strength?
  2. What is the heaviest issue that you need His support most in?
  1. How does understanding our role as followers of Jesus Christ impact our daily interactions and relationships with those around us?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Papa God, we thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to face down the challenges of life as followers of Jesus Christ. Fill us afresh with your Spirit and grant us boldness and wisdom as we share the gospel with others. May your love and grace shine through us, drawing others into relationship with you as we become a conduit for your goodness to others. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
