Devotions, A Relationship With Jesus

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

John 14:6 (NKJV)

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”

Devotional:

Principles and laws were always meant to guide us to peak performance relating to our design. In the case of human beings these guiding principles are meant to govern our decisions to live a life of harmony with God and each other. Set up to elevate us in obedience to them to live the best life imaginable. But instead of being a foundation, many laws have become a rock on which humanity is crushed.

This is because another force in controversy with God has led us to disobedience of these principles and therefore a life that can never satisfy.

Jesus seeks to set the records straight in this scripture. Jesus says clearly, “it’s Me, I am am the only way back into relationship with God. I am the the One and only way to eternal life.”

The father of lies however is declaring “No it’s me not Him.”

This is where we are at the cross roads of information. How do we make the right choice?

As Dr Tim Jennings says, we must examine the methods employed to impart the message. Is it based on others centred love or is it all about self and control, coercion and fear?

By examining the motives we can clearly discern between truth and lies and in so doing, make the choice to obey the One sent to show us the way to the Father and a life worth the living.

In this profound declaration, Jesus reveals His identity as the exclusive path to God the Father. He doesn’t merely point to a way or offer a truth; He claims to be the embodiment of both. Jesus is not just a guide or a teacher; He is the very essence of salvation and eternal life.

As we journey through life, we encounter various philosophies, ideologies, and paths that claim to lead to fulfilment and enlightenment. However, Jesus declares that He alone is the true way, the ultimate truth, and the source of abundant life. He invites us to place our trust in Him completely, knowing that He alone has the power to reconcile us to God and grant us eternal life.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Reflect on your understanding of Jesus as “the way, the truth, and the life.” How does this truth shape your perspective on salvation and spiritual fulfilment?
  2. In what ways do you see the exclusivity of Jesus’ claim challenged in today’s culture? How can you boldly proclaim the uniqueness of Christ in a world that embraces the love of self over others?
  3. Consider the significance of Jesus’ statement in relation to your personal journey of faith. How does knowing Jesus as the exclusive path to God impact your relationship with Him and your approach to sharing the Gospel with others?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Papa God.

Thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. Help us to embrace His exclusive claim with humility and conviction, trusting in Him alone for our salvation and eternal hope. Give us the courage to boldly proclaim the uniqueness of Christ in a world that seeks truth in various paths. May our lives reflect the reality of Jesus as the ultimate source of fulfilment and joy, drawing others into a saving relationship with Him. In Jesus name, we pray, Amen.
