CWW Week 3 - Day 5 - Repentance
|
Today’s Devotion Spoken…
Scripture
Mark 1:15 (NKJV)
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
Devotional
In this concise yet powerful statement, Jesus calls for a response of repentance and faith in the face of the imminent arrival of God’s kingdom.
You have joined me on this journey because, like me the words of the song ring loud and clear.
“People get ready for there’s a train a comin’. You don’t need a ticket you just get on board.” We just can’t deny that the whole world seems to be going to hell in a hand basket.
Why? Because the light of God is systematically being removed and replaced with the darkness of lawlessness and selfishness and it is very hard to see an earthly way out of this mess. What issues do we tackle first and what if it’s too late?
It’s never too late and Jesus is the Remedy. All we need to do is adopt his remedy and start being the light that casts out the darkness. We can all do that and that’s why you and I are talking right?
Jesus’ proclamation signals a turning point in history. The long-awaited time foretold by the prophets has arrived, and the kingdom of God is breaking into the world through Jesus’ ministry. The response Jesus calls for is twofold: repentance, which involves a sincere turning away from sin, and faith in the good news of salvation through Him.
So many of us are mining for darkness as we spend more time looking for evils work than we do in the Remedy. We need to realign our thinking quickly. Evil exists. This is a battle between good and evil and yet we spend more time looking for the darkness than seeking the light.
When we live our lives this way we give satan a foothold and he will exploit it. Seek you first the Kingdom of Heaven and make that your priority.
We must be careful not to fall for the traps set by evil. Satan wants nothing more than for us to give him publicity. He’s like a serial pest where any publicity is good publicity. Are we satan’s promoters or spreaders of the Good news. Boy we truly do need repentance.
Questions:
- How does Jesus’ call to repentance and belief challenge your understanding of the gospel?
- In what ways do you see the kingdom of God breaking into your life and the world around you?
- How can you cultivate a lifestyle of repentance and faith in response to Jesus’ call?
Prayer:
Dear Lord, Papa God.
We thank You for the good news of salvation proclaimed through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to respond to His call with hearts of repentance and faith, turning away from sin and embracing the truth of the gospel. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in our lives and in the world around us. Empower us by Your Spirit to live as faithful witnesses to the transformative power of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Have a great day with Jesus.
