Devotional Title: “All In: Living a Life of Loyal Love”

📖 Scripture: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” — Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV)

Devotional Thought

Loyalty is one of the most precious and rare qualities in today’s world. In a culture of shifting values, temporary commitments, and self-centered priorities, the call of Deuteronomy 6:5 stands as a bold and unwavering command: love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. This verse is not just about emotion or affection—it’s a divine invitation to a life of complete, unreserved loyalty to God.

Loyalty to God means more than believing in Him. It’s a lifestyle that flows from the heart, is seen in our choices, and is empowered by God’s grace. It’s reflected in how we worship, how we treat others, how we keep the Sabbath, and how we live in harmony with God’s law. Loyalty is practical, personal, and powerful.

Moses spoke these words to the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land—a new season of life with new temptations and distractions. God wanted to remind His people that loyalty wasn’t just about following rules—it was about relationship. To love God with all your heart meant to let nothing else take His place. It meant prioritising God in worship, in daily choices, and in the teaching of the next generation (see verse 7).

For all Christians, loyalty includes obedience to God’s commandments (John 14:15). It means trusting God’s prophetic guidance through Scripture and the Spirit of Prophecy. But most of all, it means giving Jesus our full devotion—not out of fear or habit, but because we love Him deeply.

To love God with all our heart means surrendering our desires and affections.
To love Him with all our soul means placing Him at the centre of our identity and purpose.
To love Him with all our strength means serving Him with energy, endurance, and effort.

This kind of love is not something we can produce on our own. It is the result of spending time with Jesus daily, meditating on His Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us. Loyalty grows in the soil of intimacy. The more we know God, the more we love Him. And the more we love Him, the more loyal we become—even in hard times, even when tempted, even when misunderstood.

The early pioneers modelled this kind of loyalty. Many gave up jobs, homes, and even relationships to follow truth as it is in Jesus. Their loyalty wasn’t passive—it was active and sacrificial. Today, God still calls His end-time people to that same unwavering commitment. Revelation 14:12 describes the remnant as “those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” That’s loyalty—holding on to truth and to Christ with all our being.

So the question comes to each of us today: Are we “all in” for God? Do we love Him with our full heart, soul, and strength—not just in church on Sabbath, but every moment of the week?

Loyalty isn’t always easy. But it is always worth it. When we give God our everything, we receive His everything—His presence, His promises, His power, and ultimately, eternal life.

Reflection Questions

  1. What are the things in my life that might be competing with God for my loyalty?
  2. How can I show my love and loyalty to God in practical ways this week?
  3. In what areas of my spiritual life do I need to grow in wholehearted devotion?

Closing Prayer

Dear Lord, Papa God,
Thank You for loving me with an everlasting love. You have been faithful, even when I have wandered. I want to love You with all my heart, all my soul, and all my strength. Please remove anything in my life that takes Your place. Help me to be loyal to You in the quiet moments and in the big decisions. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can live each day faithfully, joyfully, and courageously for You. Teach me to reflect Your love to others and to stand firm in truth, even when it’s not popular. Thank You for being my God, my Father, and my forever Friend.
In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.

Have a great day today with Jesus.

Graham Hood.
