Week 6 – Day 7 – Gods’ Law

Scripture: Psalm 19:7-11 (NKJV)

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;

The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;

8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;

The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;

The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold,

Yea, than much fine gold;

Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,

And in keeping them there is great reward.

Devotional:

There is one stand out obvious in the Ten Commandments.

Living them naturally because you understand the nature of them and how they relate to a loving Father, can only lead to a life of contentment even in adversity.

God always gives us what we need and not always what we want.

So think about the ways that discontentment can lead us to sin?

Every broken law is an indication that we are dissatisfied. Even the first four relating to God. When we commit adultery we are not happy with the spouse we have. When we steal we are not happy with what we have and so on. Sin never satisfies in the long term. It can’t. Any pleasure gained in sin is only temporary and very costly in the long term.

God’s law is a precious gift to humanity, a divine blueprint for righteous living and a pathway to intimacy with the Creator. In Psalm 19, we find a beautiful exposition of the multifaceted nature of God’s law and its transformative power in the lives of believers.

1. The  principles of these design precepts convert the Soul: God’s law is not merely a set of rules but a dynamic force that convicts, converts, and renews the inner being. It exposes our sinfulness, leading us to repentance, and encourages us to walk in the light and avoid the traps lurking in the darkness.

2. The Principles Of God Makes Us Wiser: In a world fraught with confusion and deception, God’s testimony stands as a sure foundation of wisdom. It enlightens the simple, imparting understanding and discernment to navigate life’s complexities. We were never meant for conflict. It was always meant to be a conversation.

3. The Commandments Rejoice the Heart: Far from being burdensome, God’s commandments bring joy and fulfilment to the heart of the believer. They align our desires with His will, leading to a life of purpose and satisfaction.

Questions for Reflection:

  1. How do I perceive God’s law—as a burden or as a source of joy and guidance?
  2. In what areas of my life do I need to align my thoughts and actions more closely with God’s commandments?
  3. How can I cultivate a deeper reverence for God’s law and a greater desire to follow it wholeheartedly?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,  Papa God, thank You for the gift of Your law, which reveals Your character and leads us into abundant life. Help me to treasure Your commandments more than the fleeting pleasures of this world, finding in them the true source of joy and fulfilment. Grant me the wisdom to understand Your testimonies and the strength to obey them to the best of my ability . May Your law be my delight and meditation day and night, guiding me on the path of righteousness. Thank you for sending us the Holy spirit to guide us and coach us in these principles and thank you for the gift of forgiveness that comes with repentance. That you for covering us with your righteousness to cover our short comings. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
